on time: 정시에, 시간 맞춰

on time은 어떤 일이 예정된 시간이나 정해진 시간에 딱 맞춰서 일어나는 것을 의미합니다. 지연되거나 일찍 오는 것 없이 정확한 시간에 맞춰 이루어질 때 사용합니다. '제시간에', '정각에'와 같은 뉘앙스입니다.

• 예시:
  • The train arrived on time.
    →  기차 딱 정시에 도착했더라구.
  • Please make sure to submit your report on time.
    →  보고서를 정시에 제출하도록 해 주세요.
  • I got to work on time today.., phew

in time은 어떤 일이 특정한 시점이나 마감 시간 이전에, 충분한 여유를 가지고 이루어지는 것을 의미합니다. 급하게 서두르지 않아도 될 만큼 충분한 시간이 있을 때 사용합니다. '때맞춰', '늦지 않게', '겨우 제때에'와 같은 뉘앙스입니다.
